You may be enjoying the fall colours that are currently transforming our gardens and neighbourhoods but did you know that now is the time to think spring when it comes to gardening?
That’s right now is the time to plant bulbs for colour next spring when many of us need it most. This year why not try something beyond just tulips and daffodils, such as alliums, iris, anemone or fritillaria? When planting bulbs its always good to consider companion plants that will come on after the bulbs have bloomed and will help to cover up the leaves that many people consider unsightly as they slowly die back. Hostas, daylillies and grasses are all good plants for this purpose and help to make your garden interesting during different seasons.
I, too have been looking forward to spring. My anticipation has manifested itself in the form of planting Spanish bluebell bulbs (something new for me).
