Their front yard presents a more formal face to the public, with a boxwood hedge, yews hydrangeas and perennials, as well as a bubbling water feature.  The walkway is Owen Sound flagstone, random size saw-cut pieces, laid on concrete. Through the porte-cochere is the family’s usual entrance, an area to play basketball and access to the garage and the backyard.

The backyard is the most important part of the real estate for this family.  A dedicated dining area overlooks the lower level of the backyard, and is protected on the one side by the garage.  An covered porch has comfortable seating and an amazing fire-table/coffee table combination as a focal point.  The flooring in this porch is huge slabs of random, oversize Owen Sound flagstone, on concrete.  The rest of the upper patio level is the same flagstone, dry laid.  Off the master bedroom is a hot tub, with privacy screen, overhead screening, and glass railing that allows a great overview of the backyard and the upper pond to those sitting in the hot tub.The pond flows underneath a piece of  Owen Sound flagstone to a second upper level pond and a waterfall.  Manitoulin stone stairs to the lower backyard and pool descend next to the waterfall.  The lower level has a beautiful and inviting custom concrete pool with a diving rock.  A poolside lounge area has a large umbrella to provide shade.  The patio is large, precast concrete interlock pavers.  The far end of the backyard has a lovely garden shed that blocks the view of the neighboring house, as well as providing a focal point for the lower level.  It is fronted by a decorative natural stone wall, which protects and encloses the vegetable garden area.
The steeply sloped area beyond the pool is planted with deciduous shrubs which naturalize and cover the slope.  A mix of coniferous and deciduous shrubs, and flowering perennials fill in the many planting areas around the patio areas and the ponds. Water plants have been added to the ponds to help create a healthy habitat for koi.  Trees and large shrubs have been planted at the north and south property lines to ensure privacy.

Everything on the wish list ticked off; a perfect family oriented backyard for a perfect family!
